WOW - what an addition to the boring world of Petunias !! First available in 2011, this is the darkest petunia yet. It really passes for black ! It is sooooo dark a purple that it looks black in most light. I have combined it with that wonderful silver trailer Dichondra , and ‘Black Mondo Grass’ , Ophiopogon, in a pair of tall, modern containers. I can’t imagine how excited the seed hybridizer was when this variety first bloomed ! Imagine the possibilities…… with lime green, or salmon/coral….
We have had several shipments of blooming 4″ pots of this curiosity already this season, and they always sell-out fast. It is the end of May as I write this, and we do have some in stock but who knows if they will be here for long. I think most garden centres will have them or could get them for you.
Ours are $3.99 each , in bloom .
