It is bulb time – and the selection is terrific ! We only order top-size bulbs, and prefer to offer them in open baskets, so that you can feel and choose each bulb yourself! This is the ‘old-fashioned way’ – and we prefer it to the bags offered everywhere else. It is a fun part of gardening that you should not miss out on - the thrill of choosing your own bulbs. Tulips are often devoured by squirrels or rats soon after planting. You can beat them at this game by dunking your bulbs in liquid deer repellant. This stinky concoction is made to deter hungry herbivores. You can find it by brand names like Bobbex (and others). Let the bulbs dry for a day before planting.

Grow your own garlic !
We have a fabulous selection of GARLIC for fall planting ! Garlic grows well here, surprisingly well. What you have to do is separate the cloves into individual pieces, each with its own tiny bit of the basal plate (the bottom of the bulb). Plant the little wedges in a sunny place with excellent drainage. It is essential that the little bulblets make some roots now, before winter. They will grow bigger next year, and be harvestable next fall. We have seven types for sale right now, at $1.49 each big bulb!
