Because we love beauty, and things botanical especially, the brightly glazed world of antique ceramics known as Majolica has found a home at Southlands Nursery. Thomas Hobbs has collected these pieces personally, and has made them available at very, very reasonable prices. All are antique, mostly English, ( but lots are American), and in the 45.00 – 95.00 range. A few large pieces are 150.00 – 250.00. We have several pieces made by the famous ‘Etruscan Pottery’ of Pennsylvania . These are my personal favourites. They made extremely beautiful , brightly coloured begonia leaves, sea shell patterns and natural designs. They went out of business in 1892, after a catastrophic fire. Each of our pieces is unique, with a patina of age and charm. Some have tiny cracks -who cares. It is very hard to part with any of them. They are eye candy and have earned their retirement after more than 100 years of use ! Drop by to see them - it is like going to a fantasy mini museum of inspired pottery!
