We have a great selection of fall bulbs in right now. I like to offer them ‘in the loose’ , in bushel baskets. This way, you can hand select the ones you want, making sure each one is sound. We only order the top size in everything we sell, so all should be A-OK , anyway. It is like buying produce, only longer lasting ! Think about using more Narcissus . Squirrels and rodents ignore them. They are happy left in the ground for years, decades even. Bright light in the spring is mandatory, though. Flowering will peter out if the area they are in becomes permanently shady in the springtime. Summer shade is fine, as deciduous trees fill out these bulbs are happy to go dormant .
Narcissus ‘TOMMY’S WHITE’
‘Tommy’s White’ is new this year. I love the name, but the flower is gorgeous, with a very pretty peachy orange cup. We have them for sale at $9.99 a dozen.
Planting fall bulbs in a container is just as much fun and creative as in a garden. Last year, I planted a new variety of tulip called ‘JOINT DIVISION’ in an Italian terra cotta pot. I chose it because the photo was gorgeous, big fringy blooms in orange, yellow and peach. It caused a sensation at the nursery last spring, everybody wanted it . The flowers lasted 2 months !!! Get here fast – we only got 200 . These are $11.99 a dozen
