To catch a Thief…
Did you ever think that there were so many thieves in our midst? We are not on the “Downtown Eastside”. These thieves drive nice cars and have a real sense of entitlement. I HAVE HAD IT. We now have cameras everywhere, even out on the street. We can zoom in, capture license plates and are working with the Vancouver City Police to prosecute. The VPD have been fantastic. We have recovered thousands of dollars in stolen plants and merchandise. One thing they cannot steal is our wonderful customers and long-term employees. By generating their own bad karma, I suspect all the plants they steal will die.

It was on November 1st, 1975 that I opened my now famous flower shop on West 41st Ave. in Kerrisdale!
I was from Richmond, BC, and knew nobody in Vancouver! I followed my dreams and flew by the seat of my pants! I liked moss and twigs, orchids and clay pots, not triangular arrangements of “glads” and “mums”… As it turns out, I was very creative and attracted a fun and appreciative clientele. This included celebrities and Royalty.
Although I have moved on to the nursery industry (my childhood dream), my florist shop still bears my name and is still thriving in its original location.
Where did 50 years go?
Me, at age 13 in my first greenhouse in Regina, Saskatchewan, with my guinea pig, Zachary.
