Where did 50 years go?
It was on November 1st, 1975 that I opened my now famous flower shop on West 41st Ave. in Kerrisdale!
I was from Richmond, BC, and knew nobody in Vancouver! I followed my dreams and flew by the seat of my pants! I liked moss and twigs, orchids and clay pots, not triangular arrangements of “glads” and “mums”… As it turns out, I was very creative and attracted a fun and appreciative clientele. This included celebrities and Royalty.
Although I have moved on to the nursery industry (my childhood dream), my florist shop still bears my name and is still thriving in its original location.
Could it be that dreams do come true?
When artistic talent, sweat, business savvy and encyclopedic plant knowledge are combined, it seems they can…..

has just arrived from Europe !
Several years ago, at the massive ‘Maison et Object ‘ trade show in Paris, I encountered this amazing manufacturer of reproduction French antique garden furniture. It is all hand forged in Romania, and I never dreamt we would ever have it…..
I lost their contact information, of course…….
I found them again via a random garden/business email, and now, six months later, it is here in Vancouver. By dealing directly with the manufacturer, I was able to negotiate a fair price !
I feel good about supporting an artisanal small business so far away !

FRENCH POTS
We have just received a large shipment of hand-made traditional pots from Provence, France. These pots are frost-proof, but the solid coloured glazes can spall [chip] in severe cold temperatures. Surprisingly, the pots with the most chippy glazes are the most valuable! [Google antique Provence garden urns to see what we mean].
Genuine antique Anduze pots [shown above] are thousands of dollars each. They are EXTREMELY rare!
